Action Publishing, Inc. earns national praise

Action Publishing, Inc. received national recognition in May for its entrepreneurial spirit and success. The National Business Incubation Association named Action its 2005 Outstanding Incubator Client in the manufacturing and service category.

Grady Busse, Action’s president, accepted the award at the organization’s 19th International Conference in Baltimore.

“The award is important because it confirms what our customers already know -- Action is a well-run, successful company that offers good value and wonderful service,” Busse said. “It is nice confirmation that we are doing a good job. The national recognition should help us to attract new customers who are looking to do business with a company that strives to exceed customer expectations.”

The Grand Junction-based company creates and produces custom-designed day planners, calendars and notebooks. Schools in 50 states and worldwide use Action’s top product, the Action Agenda line of academic day planner calendars and accessories.

Action earned the accolades above some 35,000 businesses in incubator centers nationwide. The National Business Incubation Association is the world's leading organization advancing business incubation and entrepreneurship. Each year, the NBIA Incubation Awards honor the business incubation programs, graduates and client companies that exemplify the best of the industry.

Thea Chase Gilman, director of the Business Incubator Center in Grand Junction nominated Action for the award. The Grand Junction incubator has nurtured Action, offering it office and manufacturing space, start-up support and training and other resources, since it’s creation in 2001.

In October, Busse said, Action plans to move from the Incubator Center to a new manufacturing and office facility on the north shore of Blue Heron Lake near the Colorado River and the city’s River Front trail system.
